Wales, England, Scotland – Mini Road Trip

So I went on a mini road trip with Jonny. He prepped his van so it became a really comfortable camper van!

We first headed up to Betws-Y-Coed, North Wales. It was such a pretty little town and the amount of camping/outdoor shops was amazing. If only I was flush with money at the minute, can’t beat a good waterproof jacket/trouser/hat/gloves…everything!

Next we ended up driving through Snowdonia towards the Lake District – we ended up in Ambleside just north of Windermere. We managed to get there before sunset and the views from the lake was amazing. The sun was poking through the grey/white clouds and showing some blue skies. Made for a dramatic scene if I had my proper DSLR or Chinon SLR film camera. Shame I forgot to bring them in the rush. Never mind! I got my smartphone.

THEN THIS LOVELY SCENE HAPPENED….

She was throwing breadcrumbs and he was trying to capture the moment with the birds flocking about.

Then it was off to Bonny Scotland! We stopped off at some services overnight, but not before driving to a town called Douglas (just before Glasgow) to see if we could stay overnight there…but no. It seemed a bit scary to be honest. The next day we carried on towards Loch Lomond. Driving through Glasgow – I was personally fascinated by the road notices:

  • Don’t do drugs and drive
  • Belt up in the back
  • Be a considerate driver

We were really lucky with the weather – the daytime was really sunny and the evenings did pour down with rain but that was okay because we were asleep then!

Loch Lomond is such a massive Loch. We made it to 3/4  of the way up on the West side and turned back – there is a serious lack of petrol stations around these places…what if you run out of fuel?! What if you had enough fuel but the drive was so long and there was no petrol station in that time so you just run out…and stranded.

I’M SUCH A TOURIST!
